Hello there. My name is Poochie. Originally from Richmond, Virginia, I am a Brooklyn-based, double-rooted, ambidextrous, chocolate-loving storyteller who writes love letters with light. Inspired by love, I choose to communicate to the world by showing the most intimate parts of myself through my subjects' reflections.

With the continuous support and uplifting from my community and, more importantly, my ancestors, I am on a constant journey of rediscovery. Initially, I began pursuing portraiture through self-studies, allowing myself to bring care into my images. When words never seemed to translate my thoughts accurately, I sought a way to express them through photography and filmmaking. "Care is the antidote to violence."- Saidiya Hartman.

Unbeknownst to me, my work became breadcrumbs of my life story depicted through reflections of people, documenting moments of stillness, and finding my way back to myself. Photography has soothed and healed me through movement and celebration of self and community. As I evolve, how I communicate with the world will continue to change, be guided by light, and always rooted in love.

"Come as you are, because who you are is enough" are words I choose to live by and express to the world visually. I dedicate my art to all the Black voices, faces, and spaces. Despite the constant war on our bodies and existence, we will continue to exude love and joy and forever be multidimensional. My goal is always to document this truth.
